International Mathematics Competition for University Students

The first International Mathematics Competition (IMC) took place in 1994 and since then it has been recognized as a challenging and motivating world-wide event for undergraduate students. Every respected European university has taken part in the IMC at least once. For details visit the official website - http://www.imc-math.org/.

The competition consists of two days and each day there are 6 problems for 5 hours. Comparing with the IMO, the problems are generally easier, though they require some university-level knowledge such as Algebra, Analysis and Topology. The last summer's IMC was organized in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) - from 25th to 31st July 2008.

The Ecole Polytechnique (France) went to the IMC for the first time in 2002 and since 2005 steadily participated in the competition. Here are team results (for each year, among more than 70 universities):
